BREAKING: Celtics superstar traded as blockbuster deal set to shake up NBA

The Celtics deal the five-time All-Star to the 76ers for Paul George and two first-round picks and two second-round picks, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday.

Brown is coming off his best season in the NBA, as the Cal product averaged 28.7 points per game, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists over 71 games.

It continues a dramatic day of trade action after the LA Lakers agreed to terms on a trade with the Utah Jazz for restricted free agent centre Walker Kessler.

Jaylen Brown traded to 76ers: Celtics star heading to Philadelphia for Paul George, draft picks, per report

The Boston Celtics are trading Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks (2028 and 2031) and two second-round picks (2028 and 2030), according to ESPN. The 2028 first-rounder could convert from a first to a pick swap that is more favorable to the Celtics. The 2031 first is unprotected.

The stunning deal marks the end of Brown's enormously successful 10-season run in Boston. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft made five All-Star teams with the Celtics. He averaged at least 20 points for seven consecutive seasons, took the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals six times, the NBA Finals twice, and won Finals MVP as Boston won its 18th NBA championship in 2024. Now, he will continue his career in a rival city alongside a core of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.

BREAKING: Daley’s crucial halves call made as veteran returns in Blues shake-up

Laurie Daley has named his 21-man NSW squad for Game II of the 2026 series, with changes looming for a potential series decider at the MCG.

According to Daley, his final team will be confirmed on Monday evening after his squad was listed in alphabetical order, pending injury reports from a host of stars.

Mitchell Moses, after he was a late omission in the series opener due to a hamstring injury in training, has remained in the squad as he eyes a return to the No.6 jersey.

NSW coach Laurie Daley is rolling the dice on the fitness of Mitchell Moses after recalling the Parramatta captain to his Blues side for game two of the State of Origin series.

Moses was named in Daley's squad on Monday despite having failed to play for the Eels since he was ruled out of the May 27 series opener in Sydney less than 48 hours before kick-off.

The Parramatta playmaker suffered a minor hamstring strain in the lead-up to game one and was replaced at five-eighth by Canberra's Ethan Strange.

‘I’m ready’: Katoa primed for Origin debut if Moses fails to prove fitness

Isaiya Katoa has emerged as NSW’s playmaking insurance policy as all eyes turn to Mitchell Moses and his hamstring for the start of Origin II camp.

Moses was named on Monday in a 21-man Blues squad aiming to wrap up the series with a victory against Queensland on Wednesday week.

One player expected to be ruled out of camp as early as Tuesday morning is Stephen Crichton because of an AC joint injury that has required him to receive painkilling injections each week.

It remains to be seen how fit Moses is. The Parramatta playmaker pulled up with hamstring tightness two days before game one, ruling him out of the Eels’ clash on Monday against the Bulldogs. Moses underwent another solid training session early Monday at Parramatta’s Kellyville headquarters as part of his recovery.

The club confirmed that winger Xavier Coates will not return at all in 2026 and will miss the remainder of the series.

“The players knew before the game, and I think there was a little bit of effort tonight was for X,” Craig Bellamy said after the match against the Knights.

Storm star Coates suffers injury setback which ends season

Melbourne’s slender hopes of making the NRL finals have been dealt a major blow with star winger Xavier Coates ruled out for the season after snapping his Achilles.

Coates was on the comeback trail after injuring his Achilles in the pre-season, requiring surgery that put him out for three months.

With State of Origin off the table, the Storm set a target of round 10 for his return but that was pushed back with the Queensland representative flyer’s recovery slower than expected.

Coates had resumed running and looking to integrate with the main squad in the next week when the 25-year-old suffered the crushing injury on Friday at training.

South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett has confirmed that Latrell Mitchell will be unavailable for Game 2 of the 2026 State of Origin series.

Already sidelined with a back injury, which ruled him out of the series-opener, Bennett stated that he is still at least one month away from returning to the field.

“His back is no worse, it’s just taken a little longer to rehab, that’s all,” Bennett told The Sydney Morning Herald.

Latrell out of frame for Origin II but Daley backs Moses to reclaim Blues No.6

Injured centre Latrell Mitchell is out of the selection frame for the second State of Origin clash in Melbourne, but NSW coach Laurie Daley has confirmed Mitchell Moses is likely to reclaim the No.6 jersey if he proves his fitness for Parramatta next Monday.

South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett said on Sunday strike centre Mitchell would not feature for the Rabbitohs when they take on Manly on Thursday, and is unlikely to return from a back injury until round 17 against Parramatta – after the second Origin game on June 18 at the MCG.

Mitchell was the form centre in the NRL before he injured his back against the Knights and missed a game against Cronulla, before returning for Magic Round. But he broke down again and then ruled himself out of contention for the Blues for Origin I.

Latrell Mitchell set for five-week layoff as Souths star officially ruled out of State of Origin 2

South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett has revealed they’re not expecting Latrell Mitchell back until Round 17 at the earliest, officially ruling him out of State of Origin 2. Mitchell suffered a back injury in Round 9 against Newcastle, but returned in Round 11 after a week off.

However he aggravated the bulging disk issue against the Dolphins and was forced to miss Origin 1 for NSW. Souths were initially hopeful he’d be back in Round 14 next week, which would have put him in line to be available for Origin 2.

But Bennett revealed on Sunday that Mitchell’s progress isn’t coming along like they would have expected. The Rabbitohs coach said Mitchell is now targeting a Round 17 return against Parramatta, which is the final round before teams are picked for Origin 3.

No one should presume that at any point in time the work of the Australian Federal Police, in terms of investigating and gathering evidence, is over, and I would remind those opposite before we came to office, 45 people who had gone [to the Middle East] to fight had self-managed their return.”

ABC’s head of news quits, and his successor will likely be external

The ABC’s most senior news executive, Justin Stevens, has resigned after four years in the job, and the search for his replacement is already close to completion.
