    ‘Dutton Ranch’ cast on the new ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff — and not working with Taylor Sheridan ‘at all’

    Although “Dutton Ranch” is a spinoff from Taylor Sheridan’s flagship series, “Yellowstone,” new cast members — such as James Eddie, Sterlin English, Marc Menchaca and Juan Pablo Raba — exclusively told Page Six that they didn’t meet the franchise’s prolific creator “at all.”

    “Dutton Ranch” follows Rip and Beth — portrayed by Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, respectively — after the events of “Yellowstone,” as they set up shop in Texas and encounter hostile new neighbors, like Beulah (Annette Bening) and her fixer, Joaquin (Raba). 

    The spinoff show was created by Chad Feehan, who worked as the Season 1 showrunner, with Sheridan serving as an executive producer.

    EXCLUSIVE: When it comes to Hollywood legends, young Aussie Finn Little has worked with the best of them, including Academy Award winning actor Kevin Costner.

    The Brisbane teen, now 19, shared the screen with Costner in the hit western series Yellowstone, and returns for the highly-anticipated spin-off Dutton Ranch premiering today.

    Looking back at the scenes he did share with Costner, Little could agree: "Yeah, he's Hollywood royalty." 

    "He was definitely a bucket list person to work with," Little told nine.com.au. "So I'm happy I got to share the screen with him."

    Little joined the franchise playing troubled orphan Carter in Yellowstone Season 4. Costner led the series as patriarch John Dutton III; Dutton Ranch continues his legacy.

    There’s a great deal of fun to be had in the director’s sly and surprisingly serious thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill and Eiza González

    While the actual quality might never threaten to float him above a three-star rating, I’ve grown an odd, outsized fondness for Guy Ritchie’s recent run of solidly enjoyable lower-tier action films. Whether deadly serious (Wrath of Man), entirely unserious (Operation Fortune) or somewhere between the two (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare), there’s been a real snap to them, one that’s usually missing from other recent films of that ilk. Ritchie is more deeply invested in the thought-through craft of making a B-movie than many of his peers and there’s a smooth sensuousness to how he moves, each of them looking, feeling and sounding like films he genuinely cares about.

It won’t be the last camera people want, of course, but there is very little this camera cannot do, at least for still photography. It’s exceptional and, in many crucial ways, the new standard-bearer in the industry.

    The Sony a7R VI has also been a long time coming. It may not feel like the a7R V is all that old, and having arrived in 2022, it really isn’t. However, that release ushered in some new AI-based autofocus performance and smoothed a few of its predecessor’s rougher edges, but was otherwise the same camera as 2019’s a7R IV. Since then, Sony has released some remarkable cameras, including many with image sensors that are significantly faster and more performant than the one found in the a7R IV and V.

    Sony’s A7R series has long been the brand’s high-resolution but slower burst speed mirrorless – but the new Sony A7R VI arrives with not only the highest resolution in the series, but massive 30fps burst speed capabilities.

    Announced on May 13 alongside a new 100-400mm f/4.5 lens, the Sony A7R VI brings a fully-stacked 67MP full-frame sensor with up to 16 stops of dynamic range, paired with the Bionz ZR 2 processor. While that’s just a 6MP bump over the previous generation, the maximum burst speed has tripled over the predecessor’s 10 fps.

    Live Review: Deftones Turn Sydney Into Their Own Summer

    There are legacy bands, and then there are bands who continue to grow. Deftones belong firmly in the second category. Returning to Qudos Bank Arena for the first of two Sydney shows, the Sacramento icons delivered a performance that felt less like a victory lap and more like a band still pushing forward in real time.

A striking number of younger fans lined up early alongside longtime followers, proof that Deftones’ audience is not fading with age,  it is expanding. Few bands from their era continue to pull in a new generation quite like this.     Live Review & Gallery: Deftones lead a towering Sydney return with Interpol and Ecca Vandal in support

    The walk into Qudos Bank Arena is carried by a clear sense of excitement tonight, the Deftones have returned to Australia after nearly a decade away.

    Ecca Vandal opens with a set that refuses to sit still. She moves between punk abrasion, hip-hop cadence and something more fluid without signalling the shifts, her voice snapping one moment and stretching the next. Her set lands with particular force, she’s just played Coachella and there’s a sense that she’s building a world rather than just performing songs, each track adding another layer of colour and volatility.

    Interpol follow with something more controlled. Their set leans into that clipped, nocturnal pulse they’ve carried since the early 2000s, guitars interlocking with mechanical clarity while Paul Banks delivers vocals that hover between detachment and urgency.

    In “Widow’s Bay,” premiering Wednesday on Apple TV, Matthew Rhys plays Tom Loftis, the mayor of a town on an island 40 miles off the coast of New England. At first, we don’t quite know when we are — the TV sets are cathode ray, the phones are landlines and a cigarette machine sits in the town bar. Wi-Fi and the web are mere rumors. Is it quaint? Or is it creepy?

    We are, in fact, in the present day. Though Tom has lived in Widow’s Bay since the birth of his (now teenage) son, Evan (Kingston Rumi Southwick), and spent summers there growing up, he can come across as both new to town and new to the job. Apart from Rev. Bryce (Toby Huss, always glad to see you), he seems to have few friends — he knows people, obviously, but many mock him, for no clear reasons, as cowardly and soft. (He was elected mayor only because he ran unopposed.) His big idea is to make the island a tourist destination, and to that end, he has convinced a New York Times travel writer to visit; much goes wrong, but an article is written, and the tourists come.

    ‘Widow’s Bay’ Is the Best Stephen King Mixtape Ever

    Up along the edges of New England, just a ferry ride away from the coastline, lies the quaint island town of Widow’s Bay. It’s populated by working-class locals and families that go back several generations, the kind of place perfect for summer vacations and killer lobster rolls.     'Deep Water' Review: Renny Harlin's Double-Dip Disaster Movie

    Aaron Eckhart and Ben Kingsley lead the "human drama" in Harlin's attempt to recapture the commercial mojo of "Deep Blue Sea."

    When a once-successful director finds himself stranded in a wilderness of misguided projects and indifferent audience response, he may try to reignite inspiration by going back to the ingredients of one of his iconic hits. If he can replicate the perfect storm of elements that made the earlier film work, maybe the new movie will put him back on top.

    This kind of thing happens often enough, whether it’s William Friedkin aiming for a West Coast “French Connection” with “To Live and Die in L.A.” or John McTiernan making “Die Hard with a Vengeance.” But we’re in a far more degraded realm of return-to-glory-days director syndrome when it’s Renny Harlin trying to recapture the low-trash spark of “Deep Blue Sea,” his well-liked exploitation action thriller. Talk about a 1999 movie that wasn’t about the brave new movie future!

    Aaron Eckhart Talks Shark Movie Deep Water: ‘I’ve Been Through It in Real Life’ | Interview

    Deep Water star Aaron Eckhart spoke to ComingSoon editor-in-chief Tyler Treese about his new shark movie.     Unchosen review – Asa Butterfield’s creepy cult show is a total waste of all this talent

    It’s got amazing names attached, from Christopher Eccleston to Siobhan Finneran – but the new Netflix drama starts off workmanlike then goes downhill. Why would these stars ever sign up?

    Unchosen is set in the world of a Christian splinter sect. Everyone lives simply in grace and harmony, following Christ’s teaching of peace and love for all humankind, with men and women sharing equally in domestic and other labour. They exist as shining lights for what is possible when you set aside the patriarchal nonsense and other accretions that gather around religions. Every episode is a delight and nothing much happens because everyone is living such a good and godly life.

    Breaking Down the Chilling Ending of 'Unchosen'

    In Unchosen, a new psychological drama on Netflix, Rosie (Molly Windsor) and Adam (Asa Butterfield), are a married couple living inside the Fellowship of the Divine, a secluded religious sect where strict rules govern behavior, intimacy, and punishment. Members who step out of line are subjected to “penance,” including isolation, reinforcing a system where obedience is maintained through fear and control. Adam has recently been promoted to “elder” status, putting him in a position of authority, while tethering him tightly to the structure he enforces.

    Their highly-controlled environment begins to unravel when Sam (Fra Fee), an escaped prisoner, enters their lives after saving their daughter Grace from drowning. His arrival is not just incidental—it becomes the catalyst for everything that follows. Sam builds relationships with Rosie and Adam, exploiting emotional gaps and personal vulnerabilities, while also testing the limits of the Fellowship’s internal structure. By the time the series reaches its final episode, every layer—marriage, belief system, and hierarchy—is already under strain.

    Michael review – cliched Jackson biopic is bland, bowdlerised … and bad

    Rammed with every music-movie cliche, an almost mute supporting cast and a Michael who only produces endless smiley blandness, this is a frustratingly shallow film

    Antoine Fuqua’s demi-biopic of Michael Jackson gives you the chimp, the llama, the giraffe … but not the elephant in the living room. It’s like a 127-minute trailer montage assembling every music-movie cliche you can think of: the producers’ astonishment in the recording studio, the tour bus, the billboard chart ascent, the meeting with the uncool corporate execs in their offices.

    The film skates through Jackson’s life from the early days of the Jackson Five, terrorised by belt-wielding dad Joe, to his emergence as a stunningly original, globally adored solo act, culminating in the colossal Wembley Stadium concert in 1988, at which stage he was 30-years-old. And there we leave it, with the baffling surtitle flashed up on screen before the end credits roll: “The story continues”. It certainly does. Does this mean a second, darker movie is in the works? Maybe. Producer Graham King and the Jackson family estate are reportedly considering a “Michael 2”; if this happens, they will have to find a very different film-making style, something other than this bland, slick, corporate hagiography. And there is certainly no clear commitment to anything. All concerned might well think it’s best to exit here, and avoid the controversy, like the stage show MJ: The Musical.

    Michael is a failure on every single level

    “What is the problem with Michael Jackson?” an Iraqi interrogator (played by Saïd Taghmaoui) asks the American captive he’s about to torture in the most affecting scene of David O. Russell’s Three Kings, a dark comedy set during the aftermath of first Gulf War in 1991. “Your country make him chop up his face.”

    “That’s bullshit, he did it to himself,” the American (played by Mark Wahlberg) protests, but his interrogator retorts: “Michael Jackson is pop king of sick fucking country … your sick fucking country made the Black man hate himself.”

    'Michael' Director Antoine Fuqua Defends Michael Jackson Allegations

    “Michael” director Antoine Fuqua opened up for the first time about the movie’s dramatic reshoots in a new interview with The New Yorker. As Variety reported ahead of the biopic’s theatrical release, “Michael” was forced to spend up to $15 million on additional photography in order to overhaul the film’s structure.

    The original movie started in 1993 with police raiding Michael Jackson‘s Neverland Ranch after he’s accused of sexually abusing 13-year-old Jordan Chandler.
