    'Stranger Things' Conformity Gate, explained: Secret episode coming?

    There are A LOT of theories floating around about the Stranger Things finale, from whether a certain character died to what the future of the characters is.

    But there's one that's taken hold of TikTok and other social media: It's called Conformity Gate, and as someone who has dived DEEP into some of the weird stuff that happened in Season 5, I'm finding a lot of this stuff on my timelines and For You pages.

    The tl;dr? Fans think there are a lot of signs, Easter eggs and more that what we saw to end Season 5 was a total fake-out, that Vecna has a hold on the characters and the audience to give them a completely made-up vision and happy ending. The reality, in fans' minds, is that the Mind Flayer WASN'T defeated after all and Vecna won.

    Stranger Things 5: The internet thinks this fan has cracked the final episode's plot twist

    The final episode of Stranger Things is hours away, and fans are going into overdrive with their theories on how the hit sci-fi Netflix series will end.

    Although Volume 2, released on December 26, hasn't received the best reaction, with viewers theorising that some scenes had been cut out from the three new episodes.

    There is even a petition, which now has over 350,000 signatures, with fans demanding that this "unseen footage" should be released.

    But now there's a new theory going viral, which suggests there is a narrative purpose for this, and all will be revealed in the big finale.

    "Y'all don't understand this very well could be and is looking like the best fourth wall break in television," said TikToker @in_the_west_7, who believes she's cracked the finale plot.

    Joe Keery Embraces New Beginnings After Stranger Things

    The lights are dimming in Hawkins, Indiana, but for Joe Keery, they’re just beginning to shine somewhere new. As Stranger Things launches its fifth and final season in three parts starting November 26, 2025, the actor and musician behind Steve Harrington is stepping into a future that’s as unpredictable as it is promising. For nearly a decade, Keery has been a fixture in the pop culture landscape, evolving from a small-town Massachusetts kid to a Netflix icon, and now, to a chart-topping musician and sought-after actor with a fearless appetite for reinvention.

    Joe Keery’s journey began far from Hollywood, attending River Valley Charter School and Newburyport High School before studying theater at DePaul University in Chicago. It was there, in the city’s vibrant indie scene, that he first cut his teeth in music with the psychedelic rock band Post Animal. But acting was always in the cards. According to Fanbolt, when Keery auditioned for Stranger Things in late 2015, he originally aimed for the role of Jonathan Byers. Instead, he landed Steve Harrington—a character initially written as a disposable jock, meant to meet an early demise in Season 1. The Duffer Brothers, however, saw something special in Keery’s performance: a warmth and vulnerability that prompted them to rewrite Steve’s fate.     The fifth and final season of Netflix’s smash hit retro series, Stranger Things, has been a disappointment for many, but there are some fun references for those interested in the history of hoaxes — specifically that of the soldiers fused into the floor and wall in the “melted plastic” Upside Down version of Hawkins Lab. Stranger Things leans heavily into the very real conspiracy of MK-Ultra (and this season also plays a bit into the Adrenochrome harvesting of QAnon, with Kali revealing that the military has been collecting her blood to infuse into pregnant women), but the soldiers shown briefly in episode 5, “Shock Jock,” take us back to the roots of the show.

    All the Eerie Real-Life Events ‘Stranger Things’ Is Based On

    Before "Stranger Things" became a global sensation, it was a long-shot project by two aspiring filmmakers obsessed with how Stephen King and Steven Spielberg took inspiration from real-word events and conspiracies to craft their stories.

    Initially titled Montauk, Matt and Ross Duffer's creation was envisioned as an eight-hour sci-fi horror epic set in 1980 in Montauk, New York, a real town tied to disturbing rumors of government experiments into psychological warfare.

    After being rejected several times, the Duffer brothers finally sold the project to Netflix, and Stranger Things was born.

    The hit series draws heavily from 1980s pop culture, but some of its creepiest aspects are rooted in real-world experiments and programs. The show’s mind-control labs, psychokinetic children, and military secrecy borrow from classified U.S. and Cold War-era initiatives—stories not only strange, but also true.

    'Stranger Things' finale – What we know about a spinoff series

    Even with the end of "Stranger Things" in sight, Netflix is keeping the door open three inches for more.

    The Netflix phenomenon is about to come to an end, with its highly anticipated series finale hitting the streamer on New Year's Eve. But while the final episode will wrap the mainline show, it won't be the last fans see of the "Stranger Things" world.

    The series' universe has already expanded into games, books and even a Broadway play, and at least two separate spinoff shows are on the way.

    The one we know the most about is "Stranger Things: Tales from '85," an animated series set to premiere in 2026. The show takes place in between the events of Season 2 and Season 3 and will feature the return of main characters from the original series, including Eleven, Max, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Will and Hopper. New actors will step in to voice the roles.

    Stranger Things is getting a brand new spin-off – everything you need to know

    We may be gearing up for the final episode of Stranger Things, but we're not leaving Hawkins just yet, as a new animated spin-off series, Stranger Things: Tales From '85, has been announced by Netflix.

    The news came weeks before Volume 1 of Stranger Things 5 dropped on November 26, with showrunner Eric Robles and Stranger Things co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer behind the project.

    An announcement video was posted last month, giving fans a glimpse into what the animations will look like and the creative process behind the series.

    Tales From 85' is set in the town of Hawkins in the winter of 1985, specifically "in the Stranger Things universe between Seasons 2 and 3", and so that it will include "characters fans already know and love," but the synopsis noted there's a "twist."

    Yes, the kids are now 90% Adam’s apple. Yes, Winona Ryder has been unforgivably sidelined. And yes, some characters are trapped in a room filling with yoghurt. But despite our misgivings, this show still absolutely slaps

    Listen, this isn’t the place for newcomers. Stranger Things has been around for almost a decade, and it has spent almost all this time building a mythology that has grown so unwieldy that trying to explain it would cost me my wordcount and my will to live.

    However, in fairness, this new penultimate batch of episodes gives it a good try. The content of these new episodes can neatly be split into three categories. There’s action, which is high-octane and fun, and probably why you’re watching. Then there’s dialogue, which is less successful because it causes characters to stop moving and emote at each other, even though they should probably be concentrating on the imminent end of the world.

    Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 Sets Up Two Major Deaths Ahead Of The Series Finale

    The following post contains spoilers for the events of "Stranger Things" Season 5, Volume 2.

    Ahead of the fifth and final "Stranger Things" season, series co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer tiptoed around any theories about potential character deaths in the show's concluding episodes. Although "Stranger Things" has killed off fan favorites before — and could easily do it again — the Duffer Brothers have gently pushed back against the idea of any character meeting their demise for gratuitous reasons that don't serve the plot.

    "We just always want to think ahead and not just do it to shock people or because people have a bloodlust, which they seem to have," the pair told The Independent in November. "We want to make sure that if someone dies like Eddie, who we killed last season, his death resonates throughout the course of Season 5."

    Every death in Stranger Things 5 part 2 (plus the close calls that faked fans out)

    After what felt like an eternity, the second part of Stranger Things season 5 has arrived on Netflix and the latest batch of episodes does not play around. 

    With the series finale fast approaching, there is a lot of ground to be covered to bridge the first and final parts of the season. The episodes are full of action and heartbreaking moments, and yes, there are some characters who perish along the way and others who have very close calls.     When Airbus surprised the world by flagging an urgent software fix for thousands of A320 planes in service globally, the order passed through Jetstar’s operations centre, located in an unassuming building in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood.

    The emergency decision grounded school-leavers and summer holidaymakers flying Jetstar as they arrived at airports for their trips to Queensland, Asia and beyond.

    In the Jetstar Operations Control Centre (JOCC), dozens of specialists safely diverted the planes from their normal routes for the needed upgrades. Within hours, Jetstar staff were getting 90 flights up and running again. It was not a simple affair.

    ‘Stranger Things 5’ Part 2 Episode Runtimes, Revealed

    Co-creator Ross Duffer shared the runtimes for the supersized next batch of final episodes, along with a slight update to the series finale.

    Ross Duffer, who created the Upside Down series with brother Matt Duffer, has revealed the final runtimes for the next batch of episodes in the final season of Stranger Things.

    The three episodes that make up Stranger Things 5 Vol. 2 will run for just about three and a half hours total. Here’s the breakdown:

    Ross Duffer’s social media announcement on Monday also included a slight update to the series finale’s runtime. “Stranger Things: The Finale — The Rightside Up” will now run two hours and eight minutes, instead of the previously announced two hours and five minutes.
