    Man dead, neighbors pull injured woman to safety after house explosion in Plainfield Township

    KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A man is dead, and a woman is in critical condition after an early-morning explosion leveled a home in Plainfield Township.

    The explosion happened around 4 a.m. in the 5800 block of Rollaway Drive. The explosion sparked a fire that crews later extinguished. 

    The Kent County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday afternoon in a news conference that this was an attempted murder-suicide. They believe a husband intentionally created a natural gas leak, causing the home to explode. 

    Authorities said a neighbor and a teen boy heard her calling for help and pulled her to safety. She was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition.

    ‘It was wonderful’: Sam Pang confirms Logies speculation

    Comedian Sam Pang has confirmed he is not returning to host the Logies in August. “I’ve had three great years, and it was wonderful, but I’m just not going to do it this year,” he said.

    Pang said he was approached by Seven to host the 66th awards on Sunday, August 16, but “politely declined”.

    “It was very amicable,” said Pang. “I’m well aware I may never do it again, and whoever does it I’m sure will do a great job, but I just thought three was a nice number.”

    Pang’s three-year stint delivered big ratings for Seven, with the 2025 broadcast averaging 1.43 million viewers, the highest number since 2012. The comedian was widely praised for his work on the awards show, which returned to featuring an MC after relying on a roster of presenters.

    Sam Pang confirms he is out as Logies host.

    Sam Pang has now confirmed he is not hosting this year’s Logie Awards, as first reported by TV Tonight.

    “I’ve had three great years, and it was wonderful, but I’m just not going to do it this year,” he told The Age.

    Pang said he was approached by Seven to host the 66th awards on Sunday, August 16 (we now have a date), but “politely declined”.

    The three-part series, simply called Kylie – created by the team behind Netflix's David Beckham documentary, Beckham – will explore how the Australian singer became one of pop's biggest stars.

    Vardy, 39 and now playing in the Italian top flight with Cremonese, uses a harsher expletive to describe himself in the documentary.

    Charles Leclerc endured a rollercoaster Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, as the Ferrari driver went from a potential podium finish to being classified eighth after a dramatic last-lap spin and post-race penalty. But why was Leclerc penalised and what rule was broken?

    Having got the jump on front row starters Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen, Leclerc led the early laps in Miami before eventually finding himself back in P3 during the closing stages of the 57-lap race.

    The Monegasque driver lost the position to Oscar Piastri's McLaren on the penultimate lap, and in his quest to regain a spot on the podium, Leclerc suffered a dramatic spin through Turn 3 on the final tour.

    Points stripped and result overturned after F1 stewards' post-race investigation

    Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen have both been hit with post-race penalties after Kimi Antonelli's triumph in Miami and Oscar Piastri's brilliant drive to the podium. Antonelli extended his lead in the F1 world championship with victory for Mercedes ahead of McLaren duo Lando Norris and Piastri.

    The 19-year-old Italian became the first driver in F1 history to claim his first three wins in succession from pole positions. He also won in China and Japan and has stamped his authority on the championship.

    Piastri claimed his second podium in a row after a disastrous start to the season. The Aussie produced a brilliant drive on Sunday to make up multiple positions from seventh, including a daring overtake of Leclerc late in the race.
