Lakers Dealing With Injuries to 2 Star Players Heading into NBA Preseason Opener
The Los Angeles Lakers will play their first NBA preseason game on Monday, traveling to the Golden 1 Center to take on the division rival Sacramento Kings.
Unfortunately, the new-look Lakers won’t have a couple of their stars on the basketball floor to start their preseason.
According to Dan Woike of The Athletic, Lakers newcomer Walker Kessler and rising star Austin Reaves will not play against the Kings. Kessler is dealing with a jammed finger while Reaves is nursing a tweaked ankle.
Veteran guard Collin Sexton and Arthur Kaluma, who is on a two-way contract, also won’t play on Monday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers open their preseason tonight against the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
As with most preseason games, the star players will play limited minutes in favor of the fringe roster players and the ceiling raisers. So, Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves likely won't play more than 20 minutes, while players such as Dalton Knecht, Jaden Hardy, Bronny James, Adou Thiero and Cameron Carr will get looks tonight.

Kings Corner; Kings Preseason Hits The Court
Time to wake from a summer slumber and embrace the 2026-27 season, because the Sacramento Kings will be in action Monday night against the daunting Los Angeles Lakers.
While the Lakers are without LeBron, they are arguably packed with talent and last year’s rookie Adou Thiero is just waiting for an opportunity to show the Laker fans what this highly athletic NBA forward can bring to the hard court.
Likewise, the Kings are blessed with a deep team, something that they have struggled with in the past, and that brings with it the looming question: Who will be Doug Christie’s starters, and who will garner the majority of minutes off the bench?
