‘We’re not in a rush’: Racing Bulls boss' admission over Lawson’s future

Racing Bulls will not be rushed into a decision to keep or replace Liam Lawson for the 2027 Formula One season, team boss Alan Permane asserts.

With Formula One in Singapore for the final race of a triple header of three in three weeks, Racing Bulls
are one of two teams yet to confirm its driver pairing beyond the current season.

Of the 22 race seats available next year, 18 are filled – with Haas joining Racing Bulls in keeping their plans under wraps for now.

But while Haas’ intention to make a change has been signalled through driver Esteban Ocon announcing he will leave the team, and Formula Two championship leader Rafael Camara widely understood to be replacing him, there is no clarity over which way Racing Bulls will lean.

Brundle warns of 'major problem' as Liam Lawson future decision looms

Racing Bulls has a “major problem” on its hands if the team wants to replace Liam Lawson or Arvid Lindblad with Nikola Tsolov.

That is the opinion held by Sky F1 co-commentator and pundit Martin Brundle, who says that Lawson is “driving so beautifully” while “generally speaking” that applies to his rookie teammate Arvid Lindblad also.

Lawson has established himself as the comfortable leader of the midfield pack for points scored, registering 75 points so far in F1 2026.

Lindblad has provided a further 38 in what is proving to be an impressive rookie campaign for the Brit.

The pair has lifted Racing Bulls to fifth in the current Constructors’ standings.

Racing Bulls to make driver decision 'in the coming weeks'

Team Principal Alan Permane confirmed that Racing Bulls are yet to decide which drivers will represent them in 2027.

Racing Bulls will settle on their driver line-up for the 2027 season “in the coming weeks” according to Team Principal Alan Permane, who is still working to decide between three major contenders.

Every team except Racing Bulls and Haas have announced that they will stick with their current pairings heading into next year, bringing greater focus onto whether the Faenza-based outfit will offer new deals to Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad.

Both drivers have made the most of the team’s pace to regularly finish in the points and take Racing Bulls to P5 in the constructors’ standings, with Lawson scoring a total of 69 points – 14 of which came from his stint as Isack Hadjar’s substitute at Red Bull – while rookie Lindblad has netted 38 so far.
