IT is not the way Bel Rolley envisioned her soccer career ending.
Rolley was 23 years old when she left her home in the United States to join the Newcastle Jets in late 2024.
She flew home less than a year later, struggling with injury, and quit the game.
Rolley, who played for the University of Southern California, the number three school in the US, is among a group of players speaking out, detailing the verbal and emotional abuse Ryan Campbell allegedly inflicted while coaching at the Newcastle Jets or Adamstown Rosebuds.

IN May last year, when the Newcastle Jets announced that A-League Women's head coach Ryan Campbell was stepping down after a disappointing season, the then newly appointed chief executive Tain Drinkwater praised his efforts.
"Ryan has done a tremendous job in stepping up to the A-League environment as coach for the past season," Drinkwater said, before leaving the club in June this year after only 13 months.
She said Campbell would remain technical director of the Jets girls' academy, saying she looked "forward to his continued commitment to … nurturing our region's future stars".

FOOTBALL Australia secretly dropped an investigation into claims of emotional and verbal abuse of teenage girls in the Newcastle Jets academy after its external investigator interviewed only a handful of people.
An ongoing Newcastle Herald investigation can reveal that it's been more than two years since a complaint was made to Sport Integrity Australia (SIA), which passed it to Football Australia in June 2024, alleging that Jets female academy technical director and former A-League Women coach Ryan Campbell was "bullying children".
