LOTS of talking points and goals to enjoy on Sportscene later.

Tomorrow, we have Falkirk v Rangers at noon. Can Danny Roh's side make it a clean sweep for the top three?

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin told BBC Scotland: "I think we probably stole the points in the end. First half
, we were relatively comfortable and Livingston didn’t really carry any threat.
We were on top in the game and had one or two half-chances and Will Ferry
    scores a really good goal.

"I was relaxed and didn’t see the start to the second half
coming. Two really poor goals from our point of view.

Scottish Premiership: Hearts leave it late to sink Motherwell as Celtic keep up the heat

Late double sees Hearts win 3-1, Celtic beat St Mirren 1-0

Celtic leapfrogged rivals Rangers to move second in the Premiership with a narrow 1-0 win over St Mirren but Hearts stayed clear at the top as two late goals saw them past Motherwell 3-1.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s first-half strike was enough at Celtic Park, while Rangers head to Falkirk on Sunday and can reduce Hearts’ lead to one point again with victory.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was on target after 15 minutes, having had a goal chalked off for offside before that, and it was fairly comfortable for Celtic in the first half without creating too many clear-cut chances, though St Mirren did look a threat on the break.

The controversial late penalty that helped Hearts in title race

Hearts won on a dramatic afternoon in the Scottish Premiership as Derek McInnes’ side came from behind to beat Motherwell. The Tynecastle side went behind but the late penalty helped maintain the Jambos spot at the top of the table, even if it looked as if Motherwell were unlucky not to leave with something.

The major talking point came after Stephen Welsh was penalised for a foul in the box on Kabore.

Matthew MacDermid was instructed by his colleague on VAR Steven McLean to watch the sequence of play before pointing to the spot. Lawrence Shankland netted to make it 2-1 in the 87th minute.

Wallabies lock and club captain Jeremy Williams returns to the side, with NRL star Zac Lomax set for his debut via the bench.

Drua will be different on Saturday: Harris

Former Swire Shipping Fijian Drua assistant coach who is now part of the Western Force coaching staff, Brad Harris, says the Drua may be hurting from two losses on the road but they’ll surely turn up a different side on Saturday in Lautoka.

Harris who is the Force defense coach, was also an assistant to Simon Raiwalui for the Flying Fijians at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

He says the two recent successive losses for the Drua were against two tough teams.
‘They played two top teams away on the road and a lot of teams have tough results when they play in Auckland and Christchurch so we under no illusion mate when the Drua play at home in Lautoka, Churchill Park, it is going to be a challenge’.

Live: Trump rails at reported Hormuz tolls as attacks continue across gulf

US President Donald Trump issues a fresh warning to Iran over charging ships using the Strait of Hormuz, as parts of Kuwait and Lebanon come under attack.

Welcome to our live coverage of the war in the Middle East.

The ABC's chief business correspondent Ian Verrender has today looked into how the world's ongoing fuel distribution crisis is tracking, almost six weeks into the war in the Middle East.

"Time is running out to cauterise the wound, to limit the extent of the looming economic calamity caused by the unprecedented shutdown of Middle Eastern oil exports," Verrender wrote in his latest analysis piece.

Netanyahu says there is no ceasefire in Lebanon as Israel launches fresh strikes

Welcome to the Guardian’s continuing coverage of the crisis in the Middle East.

The fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran showed further strain on Friday, a day before delegations from both countries are due to meet in Pakistan, as Donald Trump accused Tehran of breaching promises on the strait of Hormuz and Israel struck Lebanon with attacks that Iran claims violate the truce.

Middle East crisis live: Netanyahu says ‘no ceasefire in Lebanon’ as Israel attacks ‘Hezbollah launch sites’

Israeli prime minister’s remarks come shortly after Trump told US media he had asked Netanyahu to be more ‘low-key’

“I wish to inform you: There is no ceasefire in Lebanon,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Israelis in a short video address posted on X. He said Israel was “continuing to strike Hezbollah with full force, and we will not stop until we restore your security.”

His comments come shortly after President Trump said he had asked Netanyahu to be “more low-key” in Lebanon, as the US seeks to negotiate with Iran to bring the war to an end.

Netanyahu added that he had instructed his government to “open direct negotiations with Lebanon as soon as possible.” The talks will focus on the disarmament of Hezbollah and the establishment of peaceful relations between Israel and Lebanon, he added.

Hospitals in Beirut struggle to deal with casualties after Israeli attacks

Doctors warn of worsening crises as vital supplies run low and Israeli attacks devastate Beirut and surrounding areas.

Beirut, Lebanon – As bombs rained down on Lebanon’s capital, hundreds of people rushed to the American University of Beirut (AUB) Hospital, many crying, many scared. Children were looking for their siblings or their parents, unsure if they were dead or alive.

Israeli forces had bombed 100-plus targets across the country in 10 minutes on Wednesday, despite a ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran that many thought would include Lebanon.

“In under an hour, we received around 76 injured people. Unfortunately, six people didn’t make it,” Dr Salah Zeineldine, AUB’s chief medical officer, told Al Jazeera, as the hospital became an “epicentre” for victims of the Israeli attacks.

Post-ceasefire attacks in Lebanon spark fears war would get 'much worse'

People in Lebanon fear the war is going to get "much worse" after Israel hit the country's capital, Beirut, with a fresh wave of air strikes overnight.

Israel launched the attacks on what it said were Hezbollah targets hours after the US and Iran announced they had reached a ceasefire agreement.

Peace negotiations will begin in Pakistan at the weekend but it is unclear whether fighting will stop in Lebanon, which the US and Israel have claimed is not covered by the ceasefire.

On the streets of Beirut, a fresh sense of fear and panic has set in.

Overnight, Israel launched widespread attacks on the Lebanese capital — the most intense wave of Israeli air strikes to date in this war.

Live: Oil tumbles and stock market futures rally on Iran strike suspension

US President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire, as the clock counted down and markets braced for his Iran deadline.

ASX and US stock market futures are higher on the news, while Brent crude is down more than 5 per cent.

Citing Iran state media, Reuters said Iran's Supreme Security Council has submitted a 10-point proposal to the United States via Pakistan.

If both sides agree, Iran says talks will begin on Friday, April 10.

Israel's Kan public broadcaster says it is also comitted to a ceasefire with Iran.

Oil prices choppy after expletive-laden Trump threat to Iran

Oil prices saw choppy trading on Monday after US President Donald Trump threatened to destroy critical infrastructure in Iran unless it allows ships to cross the Strait of Hormuz.

In remarks, Trump said the US would attack power plants and bridges unless the two sides reach a deal by late Tuesday US time, repeating a threat he made over the weekend on social media.

Brent crude rose above $110 (£83.38) a barrel after that post, then eased after a report of US-Iran talks over a potential ceasefire.

Oil and gas shipments from the Middle East have been severely disrupted as Tehran threatens to attack vessels that try to use the strait in retaliation for US and Israeli airstrikes since 28 February.

US President Donald Trump's deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz will expire at 10am AEST.

Hours before that deadline, Mr Trump posted on social media that: "A whole civilisation will die tonight, never to be brought back again."

He has threatened to strike civilian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, if the Islamic Republic does not cooperate with his demands.

The UN rights chief has warned that deliberate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure is considered "a war crime".

"Under international law, deliberately attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure is a war crime," Volker Turk said in a statement.

How might the Strait of Hormuz be reopened? Here are 3 scenarios

Australian National University provides funding as a member of The Conversation AU.

The Strait of Hormuz crisis has reached a critical juncture. President Donald Trump has demanded Iran reopen the strait or the United States will further intensify its military assault.

While the strait has not been totally closed to shipping, it has been substantially disrupted and transits have effectively slowed to a trickle. The strait is economically and strategically unique due to the access it provides to the Persian Gulf from which there is no exit point. All shipping passes in and out a single waterway.

The key navigational choke point borders Iran to the north and Oman to the south. It’s only 29 nautical miles wide (53 kilometres) and consists of two-mile-wide (just over three kilometres) navigable channels for inbound and outbound shipping as well as a two-mile-wide buffer zone. This is all in Iranian waters.

ASX rally slows ahead of Trump deadline; Oil climbs

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.

The Australian sharemarket has pared some of its early gains while oil prices have risen amid uncertainty ahead of President Donald Trump’s latest Iran deadline, with tentative ceasefire signals tempered by the risk of further escalation.

The S&P/ASX 200 was more than 2 per cent higher in early trade but retreated to be up 126.7 points, or 1.5 per cent, to 8706.2 just after midday with nine of 11 industry sectors in the green. It is the first session for the ASX since Thursday due to the Easter break.

Trump said talks with Iran are “going well” ahead of the deadline to agree to a deal, even as he insisted that freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz must be part of any accord. If Iran doesn’t agree to the US’s terms, the military may destroy “every bridge in Iran by 12 o’clock tomorrow night” and put every power plant “out of business,” Trump warned.
