Monday marks 15 years since deadly April 27 tornado outbreak in Alabama
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Monday marks 15 years since the devastating April 27, 2011, super tornado outbreak that hit Alabama and many other states.
Over a span of four days, about 360 tornadoes touched down across 26 states, leaving catastrophic destruction in their wake, but it was the 27th that will live forever in the memories of so many.
WSFA 12 News will air a digital-only special for the 15th anniversary of the April 27th tornado outbreak Monday. This hour long special will air at 6:30 p.m. on our website, news and smart TV apps, and at the top of this article.
On that one day, 253 people lost their lives, and more than 2,000 others were injured as Alabama was pummeled again and again by 62 confirmed tornadoes.
