“You’ll notice people chat here,” Shane tells us on our first afternoon in Yamba.

He’s right. Over the next 24 hours, a dog walker stops to recommend a beach, a server laughs about regional food names, and the town’s dolphins seem keen to say hello.

    We fly into Gold Coast
Airport for my wife’s birthday in just before summer and drive two hours south to Yamba, a town that still feels like what Byron Bay used to be before it became too popular.

Rory McIlroy makes this equipment switch for first time in his career

Rory McIlroy starts his season in Dubai; it’s no real change to how he’s handled each season for the past few years. But what has changed – his equipment.

For the first time in his illustrious career, the 29-time PGA TOUR winner has opted not to start a tournament with blade irons, the pinnacle of professional golf equipment, and instead is introducing a set of cavity-back irons.

“I’m actually trying a new set of irons, which I’m very excited about at the minute,” .css-vqpqpw{transition-property:var(–chakra-transition-property-common);transition-duration:var(–chakra-transition-duration-fast);transition-timing-function:var(–chakra-transition-easing-ease-out);cursor:pointer;outline:2px solid transparent;outline-offset:2px;color:#004c95;-webkit-text-decoration:underline!important;text-decoration:underline!important;-webkit-user-drag:none;}.css-vqpqpw:focus-visible,.css-vqpqpw[data-focus-visible]{box-shadow:var(–chakra-shadows-outline);}.css-vqpqpw:hover,.css-vqpqpw[data-hover]{color:#0084FF;}.css-vqpqpw:focus,.css-vqpqpw[data-focus]{border:1px solid #004c95;border-radius:0.4rem;}.css-vqpqpw:visited{color:#551A8B;}McIlroy said during a video posted by his TGL team, Boston Common Golf, earlier this month.

Rory McIlroy cemented himself among the golfing greats in 2025, claiming a Green Jacket at The Masters to become just the sixth player in history to complete the Career Grand Slam.

Going on to then wrap up an away Ryder Cup, as well as multiple victories worldwide, it was another hugely successful year for the Northern Irishman, who continues to use TaylorMade equipment, something he's done since signing with the brand in 2017.

This week’s top picks include a juicy and completely ludicrous new Netflix drama; the return of one of HBO’s most exciting TV series; and another season of Abbott Elementary, the best American sitcom of the decade.

Intermittently in this murder-mystery, Tessa Thompson’s Anna Andrews delivers solemn, narration. “The most dangerous thing we do is lie to others,” she notes, pausing for maximum effect before adding, “and ourselves”. These contemplations, expertly laced with regretful menace, are a smokescreen, as are the nuanced performances of Thompson and co-star Jon Bernthal.

His & Hers review – this glossy thriller is ideal new year TV

This six-part adaptation of the bestselling 2020 novel about a murder investigation is twisty, absurd and bingeable. It’s great January viewing

A woman lies bloodied and twitching her last on the bonnet of a car parked deep in a wood. Another woman arrives home bloodied, gasping with fear and for wine, and starts scrubbing her hands before clearing her flat of – well, everything.

A female voiceover intones that there are two sides to every story. “Which means someone is always lying.” Absolute nonsense, obviously, but it sounds great and more importantly it confirms what we were hoping: that we are in the presence of a glossy, efficient adaptation of a bestselling thriller and it is time to switch off our brains and enjoy (unless you are the type who likes to try to solve the mystery before the characters do, in which case, Godspeed and let me know where you get the energy from).

You Can Stop Believing This Common Protein Myth

Protein is quite the buzzword these days, and rightfully so. It's an essential macronutrient that contributes to the optimum health of your body, though people especially like it for its muscle-building properties and the way it can aid weight loss. But there are also some myths surrounding protein that you need to stop believing. For example, it's a myth that consuming it immediately after a workout is crucial if you want to build muscle.

We brought this myth to Chris Mohr, a registered dietitian and fitness and nutrition advisor at Garage Gym Reviews, who told us that "the most important factor is total protein intake over the day rather than obsessing over an immediate post-workout meal." Still, the timing is not entirely negligible. "Consuming protein within a few hours before or after exercise can help optimize muscle repair and growth," Mohr explained, and specified that "for most people, a window of about two hours after finishing a workout is sufficient, assuming there is adequate protein and overall calories the rest of the day." He acknowledged that this also applies to eating before the workout.

In Just 7 Minutes, This Fantasy Character Cements His Status as an Iconic Villain

Fantasy literature has spawned plenty of iconic villains, and those villains have become even more iconic thanks to the rise of book-to-film adaptations. Who could forget when Sauron sent the forces of Man flying left and right with his massive mace in the opening of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring? Or the Wicked Witch of the West summoning her army of flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz? One villain managed to have his own iconic scene, which involved coming back from the edge of Death — Lord Voldemort's resurrection in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Some of the best scenes in the entire Harry Potter movie franchise involve the Great Hall and all manner of celebrations during the Halloween and Christmas seasons. In the past, we’ve heard about how the Great Hall scenes brought a sense of wonder to James and Oliver Phelps, and other Potter cast members when they first entered the sets set up for feasts and more. Given how realistic and magical everything looked, I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise the kids had trouble differentiating between what was real and fake in the scenes, and that trickled down to the food.

Who will take the minutes this week for Bayern Munich’s suspended star Luis Díaz?

Bayern Munich’s Luis Díaz woes don’t end, do they?

The Colombian winger was set to miss the upcoming UEFA Champions League fixture against Portuguese side Sporting CP, owing to his earlier three-match, now two-match ban in the CL. The harsh ban was handed during the Paris Saint-Germain fixture in early November following a sliding tackle to Achraf Hakimi. Diaz was further sorely missed during Bayern’s visit to the Emirates in late November, where the Rekordmeister fell 3-1 to an in-form Arsenal FC.

During the Bundesliga fixture on Matchday 13 against VfB Stuttgart, Díaz started on the left wing and pressed extremely well throughout. He did later in the game register an assist, for the goal that Josip Stanišić scored. However, at the 62nd minute, Diaz was run into by Ramon Hendricks from Stuttgart. The Colombian gave a slight shove to the Dutchman to which referee Tobias Stieler responded with a yellow card.

Kompany confident Diaz will return in 'top mental state' after short break

Vincent Kompany expects Luis Diaz to be in a "top mental state" when he returns from suspension after their Champions League meeting with Sporting CP.

Diaz was sent off for a poor tackle on Achraf Hakimi in Bayern Munich's 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain on November 4 and subsequently missed the 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

The Colombian has played in every other Bayern game in all competitions this season and is their second-highest scorer with 12 goals, behind Harry Kane (28).

He has also provided seven assists, with only Michael Olise (10) recording more.

Diaz has been a key part of Bayern's success in 2025-26, and their only loss this term came when he was not in the side – against Arsenal – but Kompany believes the short break from playing will benefit the winger.

Aussie actor’s hilarious Steve Irwin imitation earns praise

There’s only one Steve Irwin, but after witnessing buried vision of a teenage Chris Hemsworth imitating the late Crocodile Hunter in his first “unofficial acting gig”, Robert Irwin reckons the now Thor star wasn’t too far off.

The hilarious clip surfaced via a recent trailer for the actor’s new Disney+ film titled Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, which centres on Hemsworth’s father’s fight against dementia.

Watching the dusty vision at home with his parents as part of the documentary, the 42-year-old can be seen wrangling his pet dog — which he jokingly renames the Siberian Tiger Australian Fox — as he proceeds to imitate Steve’s familiar voice, movements and go-to khaki shorts and shirt combo.

Chris Hemsworth Sends Up Aussie Icon Steve Irwin In Unseen Home Video — And Robert Irwin Approves

Chris Hemsworth has revealed one of his earliest acting roles: playing the late Aussie great Steve Irwin.

The Thor actor showcased a home video of him impersonating the conservationist in his new Hulu/Disney+ documentary Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember.

“My first self-appointed, unofficial acting gig. I drew inspiration from one of my heroes, the crocodile hunter himself,” Hemsworth wrote in a social media post.

The home video captures Hemsworth as Irwin tracking down a “Siberian Tiger Australian Fox,” which in reality appears to be the family dog.

Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember films Hemsworth with his parents watching the video, with the Extraction actor joking: “There’s that and then Thor.”
