A peace note left by Iranian players has been found in the team’s dressing room following their 0-0 draw to Belgium in Los Angeles on Monday.
The handwritten letter was found on a seat shortly after the team left the stadium, with players writing that they leave the city “with dignity”.
The message comes just days after the team’s governing body revealed it was planning to lodge a formal complaint with FIFA over the treatment of the team in relation to their travel arrangements.
“From the ancient Persia of thousands of years ago to the civilised Iran of today, the spirit of Iran remains alive and steadfast,” the note said.
